Acer and ASUS are two of the best options for durable laptops. The budget-friendly nature of these laptops doesn’t mean that they lack quality since they are equipped with the same components as higher-priced models.

It can be easy to decide between the two brands.  These brands have grown in popularity over the past few decades due to their long history.

Which laptop brand is best for you will depend on your needs. Here, I will give an honest assessment of both brands and compare them to help you make a better buying decision.

It is hard to imagine a company so old for laptops as Acer, founded in 1976. The Taiwanese company is highly trusted by its users.

This brand not only sells laptops but also manufactures and sells tablets, smartphones, etc. All electronic devices manufactured by Acer work smoothly and are reliable.

Asus is one of the most prominent electronic device manufacturers. Since 1989, Asus has been a leading brand for Taiwanese electronics. The company’s product line differs slightly from Acer’s.

Asus manufactures hardware such as motherboards, graphics cards, and laptops. With Asus having such a large following of customers, whatever it sells will succeed.

Asus products are expected to be of excellent quality by many consumers. Since its inception, the company has earned the trust of its customers. Asus is, therefore, a reliable brand when it comes to laptops.

Acer vs Asus – Head-to-Head Comparison

ASUS is a better choice than Acer when it comes to laptops. Asus is in first place in design, performance, and customer support. However, Acer beats ASUS in terms of price. Asus also offers a wide range of gaming laptop options.

Their differences aren’t too great, and they are similar more than they are different. Acer and ASUS have both been founded in Taiwan and are based in the same country.

Asus and Acer are about the same size. In addition, many people are unaware that former Acer employees founded ASUS. These two brands are often compared because their price ranges are similar and easily upgraded.

Gaming Laptops

If you’re considering buying a gaming laptop, you should consider an ASUS over Acer. ASUS has recently released several excellent gaming laptops, including the ASUS Rog Zephyrus. Rog Zephyrus is a high-end laptop because it runs on Intel i7 processors.

No products found.

There is no other high-end laptop that can beat the screen size of this laptop. Many gamers consider ASUS laptops to be excellent choices because they are affordable. Regarding performance and RAM, ASUS gaming laptops are the best option.

Business Laptops

Business users rarely care about price when it comes to productivity, where Asus shines. Acer offers quite a few good laptops in this category with its Swift and Spin series. Another great convertible laptop by Acer for business users is the ConceptD 3.

In contrast to the Swift and Spin series, Asus’ ZenBook and Zephyrus series seem to be more appealing laptops. Acer ConceptD 3 offers excellent performance and good competitiveness against Asus. However, I believe Asus offers more business-oriented laptops.

Studying Laptops

The best choice for daily tasks and studying is ASUS. Consider the ASUS Chromebook if you are looking for a lightweight, portable device, along with a high level of performance.

Chromebooks’ Full-HD display is a top-quality feature, making them more popular for entertainment. Besides, the Acer Chromebook Spin 311 is a great Chromebook for your studies.

Although the screen is small, it’s not very bright. Despite having decent RAM and plenty of storage space, ASUS Chromebook is the clear winner due to its better display.

  • Get access to more than 2 million Android apps from Google Play to learn and do more.
  • Chromebooks come with built-in storage for offline access to your most important files and an additional 100GB of Google Drive space to ensure that all of your files are backed up automatically.

Budget Laptops

Asus laptops are generally more expensive than Acer laptops. Often these are cheaper, making them an excellent option for budget-conscious people. Additionally, Asus also presents several cost-effective laptops that offer a good combination of performance and price.

ASUS also offers an array of models, so you can select a laptop that suits your needs. Acer laptops are a good choice if you’re looking to buy a laptop at an affordable price.

Design

Depending on your budget, the product’s design may also vary. The overall design is slightly better for Asus than Acer, but there is a very narrow difference. If you check Acer’s budget-friendly notebooks, most of them have a similar design. Acer’s laptops are built with casings that fit into different configurations.

On the other hand, laptops from Acer focus more on being affordable, while Asus laptops emphasize design. Comparing the Aspire series to the VivoBook series, one can determine that it isn’t always true.

Because neither series differs in design, we cannot conclude that one is superior. Moreover, buyers have different preferences when it comes to design. The design of Acer’s higher-end laptops is also better than that of Asus.

A few examples include Acer Predator 300 and Asus Zephyrus M15. However, the Acer Predator is a cooler design than Asus’ Zephyrus M15. Zephyrus M15 is preferable in design to the Predator 300 for some individuals, and there is no right or wrong as far as that is concerned.

In general, I think the design of the Asus laptop line is better than that of Acer’s. That being said, it all depends on what you want and your budget.

Build Quality & Hardware

Asus offers a wide range of hardware choices, depending upon the kind of laptop you need. In addition to offering unique designs, the laptops are built to a high standard, with no compromise on quality.

The design team at Asus is committed to innovation. Additionally, their laptops are built with aluminum cases, meaning they are more durable than those made with plastic.

In contrast, Acer designs its laptops with a more traditional aesthetic, and all of them look the same. Another thing that makes Acer laptops stand out is their building quality.

However, most laptops from Acer use plastics as the primary material for construction. The Acer Chromebook 13 has an aluminum chassis and hinge, setting it apart from other Acer laptops.

The display features of both brands are largely similar, with a few exceptions. The build quality and hardware of ASUS laptops are exceptional because of their innovation and durability. The second benefit of Asus laptops is that they feature liquid cooling.

Performance

Both Asus and Acer perform well, so it isn’t easy to distinguish between them. There is a wide range of laptops to choose from at these two companies, from gaming laptops to budget laptops.

Therefore, how well your laptop performs depends on your needs and budget. Look at the gaming lineup from these two brands. The Zephyrus M15 from Asus, for example, comes with a powerful i7 processor.

In addition to 16GG RAM, a 1TB SSD, and 8GB of video memory, this laptop also comes equipped with GeForce RTX 2070 graphics. In contrast, Acer offers gaming laptops such as the Acer Predator.

With 16 GB of RAM and an Intel i7-10750H processor, the Acer Predator Helios 300 laptop runs on the 10th generation. The laptop also comes with GeForce RTX graphics along with 16 GB RAM. Performance is unlikely to differ significantly between these two laptops.

There are similarities between these laptops, such as the similar components that provide similar performance. Therefore, how is it possible to claim that the Zephyrus M15 will perform better with the i7-10750H than with the Helios 300?

A wide range of products is available from each of these manufacturers. There is no shortage of choices when it comes to laptops, regardless of whether you’re looking for a budget laptop or a gaming laptop.

I would say that, in terms of performance, they are tied. Asus and Acer are both great choices in terms of performance, but it is more about the specs than the brand itself.

Asus Zenbook Pro Duo and Acer Swift 5 are also quite popular models by both the brands that are high performing. Two screens make up the creative design of the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo.

It comes with a touchscreen and a touch pen on top of the smaller screen. It’s perfect for people who need their laptop to design. A few of the laptop’s specifications include a Core i7 processor, 16 GB RAM, and a 1TB HDD.

Therefore, it is highly efficient, a highly productive device, and capable of running all your design software. Further, among Acer Swift 5’s most attractive features is its Core i7 processor.

The laptop has 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage, making it a great multitasking laptop. The winner of this matchup is Asus, despite their similar specifications and the same processor.

Durability

A durable laptop is a must, especially if it’s an advanced model. Spending a lot of money on the product and having it destroyed within a week is a waste of money. As a result, Asus tests their laptops under military standards to guarantee that they are durable enough.

The durability of Asus laptops is ensured through several tests, including temperature testing, hinge testing, etc. In comparison, Acer laptops are made to last as well. The design guarantees they will withstand any challenge regarding durability.

After a year or two, you won’t be disappointed with Acer laptops’ durability. Therefore, both Asus and Acer perform well in terms of durability.

Customer Service & Warranty

I would much rather get customer service from ASUS than Acer because their service is much better. Furthermore, an ASUS laptop comes with a lengthy warranty to cover any problems you encounter.

Asus’s support is about average when compared to other big laptop brands. It is slightly inferior to Apple’s support, but it is still superior to the competition.

In contrast, the customer service offered by Acer isn’t great. Resolving an issue over the phone is slow and often results in no progress. In the past, I was required to ship my damaged Acer laptop for repair – I believe this is why Apple is so popular now.

Generally, Acer offers a one-year warranty on most of its products. In addition, more expensive models come with a two-year warranty. If you are interested in getting an extended warranty, you can get it separately.
